The shoulder rest is made of 21^st century water-blown polyurethane, giving it extraordinarily high tensile strength while being light weight (less than 2 ounces!).

The shoulder rest makes contact with the violin or viola at 6 pyramid points.  This means that there is less surface area that is being covered.

The Acoustifoam has hundreds of tiny air pockets which vibrate along with the instrument and make the cushion more comfortable for the player.
